The Royal Torbay Yacht Club prides itself on its good race management. We run races every weekend and during the 23 weeks of the summer season every Wednesday evening. The club also runs several national and other championships for dinghy and keelboat classes each year. This involves a large number of volunteers to run our committee boat, patrol boats and shoreside organisation including result management. The committee boat Mary Gurine is a 33ft Aquabell new to the club in 2015 from which most of the racing is run, creating windward starts for almost all racing. We also have 3 RIBs as patrol boats and mark layers with other local and members boats available for bigger events. The club has some 11 race marks in the bay to create a range of courses for most conditions. RTYC also has a range of championship inflatable marks used for nationals, championships, and regattas.

RTYC does place a significant emphasis on safety and therefore we run training courses on safety boat operation and driving and ensure all our crews are aware of the risks.
