As part of the build up to the stopover here in Torbay of La Solitaire Du Figaro June 17th – 21st between 8 and 14 boats will be arriving here next Thursday, the 12th of March.
Having sailed non -stop from Southern Brittany the fleet are expected to arrive in the harbour between 14.00 and 18.00 hrs. They will overnight in Torquay and will feature in a media day on Friday 13th. This will feature the “christening “ of two boats, those sailed by local sailors Henry Bomby and Sam Matson from Exmouth. This will take place on the pontoons from 13.30 pm and will be attended by sponsors, families, friends and supporters.
The fleet will leave the bay at approx 16.00 hrs on Friday for the next leg of this pre race training exercise.
All members are invited to come down to the club and harbour in support of the occasion and witness first hand the spectacle of these boats arriving and departing. These two days will offer just a taste of what to expect and June.
For those of you who have not already seen it Page 69 of this week’s Herald Express features the UK Solitaire du Figaro stopover.
I hope that the club will give these fine sailors and their supporters and enthusiastic welcome and look forward to seeing the on the harbour next week
