COVID-19 Update (24th February 2021)

Following the announcement on 22nd February of the Government’s four-step roadmap for easing the current COVID restrictions, the Management Committee met last night and reviewed what this means for the Club.

Subject to any changes to regulations that might be imposed on us, our current intentions are as follows:

  • The Club Bar and Restaurant are to re-open on the evening of Wednesday 14th April for outdoor service.
  • The Club Bar and Restaurant will then be open for outdoor service on Friday afternoons and evenings, Saturday afternoons, Sunday afternoons and Wednesday evenings.
  • From Wednesday 19th May, the Club Bar and Restaurant will be open for indoor and outdoor service, again on Friday afternoons and evenings, Saturday afternoons, Sunday afternoons and Wednesday evenings.

All of the above will be subject to the social contact restrictions as set out in the regulations; as we understand it this means that either the rule of six or a maximum of two households can mix. Table service will apply, and pre-booking arrangements will be re-instated on the website.

From 21st June it is anticipated that we will return to normal service and the social committee are now putting plans in place to hold a Summer Ball on 24th July to celebrate a return to normality. Further details will be published in due course; it will I am sure be a great event so reserve the date in your diary now!

Subject to RYA advice, which is awaited, we anticipate that club racing will commence as planned on Sunday 4th April. Publication of the NoR, SI’s and the opening of the entry system will follow as soon as we have the RYA guidance.

Except for a couple of our early bookings, the Regattas, external championships and other events being hosted this year should go ahead as planned. The organisers of these events will be looking for volunteers to assist and will no doubt be sending out requests in the coming weeks.

Another date for your diary is this year’s AGM. The current plan is to hold the AGM virtually on 16th April 2021, with further information to follow in due course.

I want to sign off by thanking you, the membership, for your continued support. We have had a healthy number of membership renewals already in advance of our new renewal date of 31st March, which augers well for the coming year. It looks as if the return to normality is now just around the corner if we abide by the roadmap rules. I hope you all stay safe and healthy and look forward to seeing you in the club or on the water in the spring.
