Racing in J/70’s twelve teams from across the country competed in 12 races over two days. The last race of each day was a race home with a Squadron line finish, and a cannon for each finisher. The club team this year was led by Commodore James Clapham, with his wife Emily, Larissa Connabeer and Andy Brierley. They certainly had their work cut out in challenging Solent conditions. Racing was dominated by strong local teams and our team had to settle for two hard fought 2nd places as their best results, no mean achievement in such competitive company. The club has an enviable record in this prestigious event which takes place at the Royal Yacht Squadron Cowes, with a third, a second and two first places in the last four years. Sadly, this proved not to be our year but one can be sure we will be back again in 2024 and determined to be back on the podium.
James, Emily, Larissa and Andy you were great ambassadors for our club, well done and thank you.
Bob Penfold – Vice Commodore
