Junior News May 2015
We have had a busy start to the 2015 sailing season! The start of the season was affected by some strong wind on Saturday mornings but we have managed to get most races underway in the afternoon. The best way to build your sailing skills is to join in club racing on a Saturday afternoon, don’t worry if you are a bit nervous there is lots of on the water support from the RTYC Patrol boats.
Welcome
We have had a lot of new Juniors join us from the Easter TYST course, it has been great to meet you all and brilliant that so many of you are now taking part on Saturday mornings. The next TYST course is running over half term and we will be welcoming some more new members to the Junior section of the club.
Volvo Sailing Academy
The Volvo Sailing Academy day was a real success and it was good to see so many of you trying out paddle boarding and keel boats. If you brought a friend along for the session encourage them to join the club and sail some more.
Sail and Dine
Coming up over the next few Fridays we have our sail and dine evenings where you can bring a friend along who might not be a member to have a go at sailing and encourage them to join the club.
The sessions will be £10 and include supper in the club’s restaurant. Registration opens from 5pm on the harbour side and we aim to launch at 6pm. If you are one of our experienced sailors we would really appreciate you coming down to help take people out in Quba’s and Feva’s. Encourage your parents as well to come down and dine also in the restaurant from the excellent Friday night menu.

Saturday Morning Sailing
Unfortunately we have had to cancel the session on the 6th June as many of our volunteers, instructors and safety crews are unavailable. But don’t worry all the other sessions are running as planned and there will be sail and dine on the Friday night.
Royal Torbay Regatta
If you are wanting to sail in the junior regatta this year at the end of August you need to get your entry form in and take advantage of the discount price for early entry. If you wish to hire a TYST boat please email juniors@rtyc.org to book a boat. Remember that we have Quba’s with fully battened race sails that can be used for the regatta as well as the RS Teras’
